What caused the Kobe earthquake

A

Do you convection current in the mantle of the earth moved plates together. This was due to radioactive decay in the core producing heat. When the Pacific plate and Eurasian plate meet the denser Pacific plate subducts under the Eurasian plate. As the plates try to slide past each other the friction between them increases the plate certainly Jack passed each other releasing energy that moves the ground as seismic waves
