bear down and show rectal prolapse or abnormal rectal descent. look for any redness, nodules, haemorrhoids
insert finger
anal tone
insert further
posterior wall
anterior wall
describe prostate
faeces
any palpable abnormalities
ask the patient to bear
down, as this may bring down a lesion (polyp) from higher up the
rectum to touch your finger
exit and feel wall
note what is on finger
