Year 10 chem Flashcards
What’s an element?
In chemistry, refers to a simple substance that cannot be broken down.
What’s a molecule?
A group if atoms that are boned together
A compound is?
A thing is composed of two or more separate elements.
What’s the atomic radius?
The total distance from the nucleolus to the most outer electron.
What’s Ionisation energy?
The energy needed to take an election from an atom.
What is melting definition?
The process that occurs when a solid changes into a liquid after heat is applied.
What’s electronegativity?
A measure of an atom’s ability to attract shared electron to itself.
What’s the atomic mass.
Protons + neutrons.
What’s the atomic number?
Number of proton= number of electrons.
What are groups?
Groups run across the top of the periodic table and it tells you the number of valance electrons.
What’s a period?
A period runs down the periodic table and tells you the the highest energy level an electron in that element occupies.
