Starting Position for Tai Chi Beginning, YS12
Feet together facing 12:00, sink and step out to right, feet > shoulder width apart.
Starting Position for Grasping the Sparrows Tail, YS12
Left leg weighted forward facing 1:30, right foot posted. Left hand high holding the ball.
Starting Position for Single Whip, YS12
Right leg weighted forward facing 3:00, left leg back at 1:30. Hands in push, shift weight to left leg, swivel right leg and body 135 degrees to other side. Shift weight to right leg with it facing 10:30, post left foot, right hand high holding the ball.
Starting Position for Wave Hands Like Clouds, YS12
Left leg weighted forward facing 9:00, right leg back at 10:30. Right arm high and 90 degrees right in hook and left arm forward in side chop. Left arm drops while weight shifts to right leg. Swivel left leg to face 12:00. Change right hand hook to holding ball.
Starting Position for Brush, Knee, and Push, YS12
Both feet facing 12:00, right foot weighted, left foot posted, left hand high.

Left leg weighted forward facing 9:00, right leg back at 10:30. Left hand above and near knee, right hand in push. Slight step forward with right leg

Right leg weighted back facing 10:30, left leg on heel facing 9:00. Left forearm angled upward with right hand close to the elbow of the left arm.

Left leg weighted back facing 7:30, right leg on heel facing 9:00. Left forearm held back at hip, right arm in push.

Right leg weighted back facing 10:30, left leg forward on heel facing 9:00. Right forearm held back at hip, left arm in push.
Starting Position for Deflect, intercept, and punch, YS12
Legs parallel, left leg weighted at 9:00, right leg on heel and slightly forward at 10:30. Left forearm held back at hip, right arm in punch.
Starting Position for Similar to Shutting, YS12
Left leg weighted forward facing 9:00, right leg back at 10:30. Right arm forward in punch, left elbow bent and left hand flexed up over outside lateral edge of right arm.
