Dualism
The belief that you are made of two things; soul and body.
Materialism
The belief that everything (including thoughts and emotions is made of nothing but material.
Science
An intellectual and practical activity, which explores the physical and natural world through observation and experimentation. Science is only interested in things made from material, as only this can be properly examined and experimented on.
Moksha
The release from the cycle of reincarnation in Hinduism.

Nibbana
The release from the cycle of reincarnation in Buddhism.

Atman
A Sanskrit word meaning ‘inner-self’ or ‘soul’.
Karma
The belief that you get what you deserve; what goes around comes around.
Akhirah
An Arabic word, meaning ‘life after death’.
NDE and NDEr
NDE stands for a near-death experience.
An NDEr is a person who has experienced one of these. They normally claim to see supernatural or other-worldly things, such as a bright light or a staircase.
Reincarnation
The belief of ‘re-birth’; a transmigration of the soul.
Atonement
The repentance of sins through a sacrifice.
Crucifixion
A form of the death penalty that includes being nailed to the cross.
Resurrection
The act of rising from the dead.
This is different to resuscitation, the way in which doctors keep the heart moving.
