X ray room +BASICS Flashcards
What is an isolator ?
A mechanical switch which must be operated by hand.
What is a contactor ?
An electro mechanical switch which is controlled by a mechanical coil. The coil is controlled by push buttons which have a normally closed OFF and normally open ON. This keeps the coil maintained until broken by the off button.
The contactor uses a lower voltage than the systems it manages .
Each contact has a stationary component and a moveable one which is controlled by the coil.
How many contacts are there within a contactor and what components are within a contactor circuit ?
3, one to control each phase of the power supply.
Step down transformer to supply the contactor voltage.
A fuse.
Two switches for on and off (off is normally closed and on is normally open).
A electromagnetic coil.
What group is an x ray room and a fluoroscopy room and why ?
A simple x ray room is a group 1 medical location as the applied part is the x ray table which doesn’t impact the circulatory system and a supply failure doesn’t risk the safety of the patient.
In cases like fluoroscopy or where a catheter is used, the room may a be a group 2 location as there is an applied part which may have an impact on the circulatory system.
What is the exposure time ?
the time which voltage is applied by the HT transformer in seconds.
What is the dose time ?
measured in mAs and is dependant on how long the filament current is applied.( filament current x exposure time)
What is the required voltage of the patient table and overhead crane ?
24V
