What was the main type of warfare used in WWI?
Germany was unable to sweep through France and the other side was not able to push them back, so both sides dug trenches to protect themselves from enemy machine gun fire. This soon developed into solid trench warfare, with neither side being able to push the other back far, despite hundreds of attempts of sending men in waves, only to get cut down by the machine guns.
Name some ways in which technology and warfare advanced during WWI.

How did warfare tactics change towards the end of WWI?
Near the end of the war, the French and British, needing to push the Germans out of France, employed a new tactic of sticking close to the line of artillery fire which moved forward towards the enemy trenches. Also, tanks were used more effectively.
