What was the Conscription Crisis in Canada? (1917)

A

A crisis regarding the conscription of Canadian men which had outlined the divide between the French and English Canadians in Canada. The French had no interest in fighting for the British Empire while the Brits HEAVILY supported it. Once conscription act was put into place, only 20000 of the 400000 showed up for training.

A

A plan where Germany wanted to defeat France quickly before Russia could get her troops mobilized. This would prevent a war on two fronts, but failed in the end.

Give an Example of the Domino Effect that started WW1

A

The Serbian nationalist group, “Black Hand,” assassinated Franz Ferdinand, which angered Austria Hungary. Austria-Hungary then reaches out to its ally, Germany, which is on board with an invasion on Serbia. Once their ultimatum is denied, they declare war on each other. Germany then declares war on Russia. To initiate their schlieffen plan, they invade France, but go through Belgium, which is where Britain joins the war. In an attempt to lay siege to Britain, they shoot down transport and supply ships, which are seen as terrorist attacks by America, which is when they enter the way.

A

Economic prosperity is the level of wealth in a country and its economic growth. France wanted to shatter Germany’s economy, which is a negative effect on its economic prosperity.
