What is the mission of MAWTS-1?
To provide standardized tactical training & certification of unit instructor qualifications that support the Marine Aviation (T&R)
What is the Commander’s intent as specified in WTTP?
The primary responsibility of Marine Commanders is Combat Readiness. WTTP supports individual and unit combat readiness by tasking MAWTS-1 to train Officer & Enlisted instructors to manage unit aviation supplementary courses of instruction, standardize unit instructor certification programs, & develop & distribute academic courseware that supports the 2000, 3000, & 4000 phases of the Marine Aviation T&R Program

What are the responsibilities of the MAWTS-1 CO within WTTP?
- shall administer and manage the WTTP
- Conduct (2) WTI courses annually
- Conduct Aviation Ground Safety Courses during WTI
- Develop supplementary courses of instruction & instructor certification programs that support the Marine Aviation T&R program
- Serve as the syllabus sponsor for all Marine Aviation T&R program manuals
- Assist with the development & editing of Marine Aviation Doctrinal Publications
What are the responsibilities of the Squadron/Unit COs within WTTP?
- Ensure a professionally managed WTTP is conducted that supports the unit’s mission, METL, & T&R syllabus.
- Nominate qualified prospective WTIs
- Assign WTIs to each unit WTI Table of Organization (T/O) Billet
- Select candidates for unit instructor certifications
- Authorize MAWTS-1 Officer aircrew to act as Pilot in Command & Mission Commanders
What are the responsibilities of the WTIs within WTTP?
- Develop & execute a training program in accordance with WTTP that supports the CO’s training guidance. Training includes individual T&R training and collective operational unit training.
- Serve as the unit SME for mission planning, briefing/de-briefing, threat systems, & unit weapons system employment.
- Recommend the most qualified personnel for nomination to the WTI course
- Ensure all training conducted under the WTIs supervision adheres to established training standards, safety, & ORM procedures.
COs of the MAGs, MACGs, & AGSDs
- Provide oversight of prospective WTI nominations
- provide oversight of unit instructor qualifications
- ensure each squadron in the group has MAWTS-1 trained WTI’s in the PTO and WTO billets
MCI West
- provide administrative support and facilities to MAWTS-1
- under the cognizant of CO MCAS Yuma which is responsible for planning, reviewing, and budgeting for MAWTS-1 facility maintenance, upgrades, and improvements
CG MAGTFTC
- exercise administrative control and operational control over MAWTS-1
- provides budgeting, accounting, reporting system, and technical guidance in managing annual appropriations and miscellaneous funding documents for MAWTS-1
CG TECOM
Aviation standards branch (ASB)
- coordinate all WTTP and T&R initiatives within TECOM for CO, MAWTS-1
- provide funding for TAD expenses for graduates receiving a secondary MOS upon completion
MARFORPAC, MARFORCOM, MARFORRES
Shall provide sufficient resources to support
Deputy commandant for aviation
DC AVN
- MAWTS-1 training system resource advocate for “green dollar” operations and maintenance, Marine Corps funds (O&MMC)
- receives program requirements from MAWTS-1 & oversees them through the program objective memorandum and budgeting process
- the MC Federation lead at NavAirSyscom PMA – 205 is the MAWTS-1 program acquisition manager. the allocation of funds will be made in accordance with aviation weapons requirements branch guidance and MAWTS-1 requirements.
Deputy Commandant for manpower and reserve affairs
DC M&RA
Shall not normally assign PCS/PCA orders for 12 to 18 months upon successful graduation of this course
CGs for MAWs, MARDIVs, MLGs
Provide aircraft, personnel, and equipment augmentation as published in the planning conference results and the MAWTS-1 WTI table of organization, as directed by respective (MARFOR) commanders
