The 6 C’s
Clear, Concise, Concrete, Colorful/Creative, Culturally Sensitive, and Correct
Concise
Don’t use more words or images than you need to. You might distract the reader/viewer if you do so.
Concrete
How abstract or precise is your message (ice cream versus gluten free sugarless fresh strawberry and cream Ben and Jerry’s ice cream)? Concrete messages will be more effective presentationally and can clarify and encourage the abstract, which can be useful as well.
Colorful/Creative
Adjectives and adverbs help to ripen language and make it more clear and interesting, make it unique enough to stand out but not so unique that it is jarring
Culturally Sensitive
Avoid sexist, racist, and homophobic language, and know the audience.
Correct
Follow the rules of grammar, have the right punctuation, word choice, and avoid the passive voice
