Q

difference between descriptive statistics and inferential statistics

A

Descriptive statistics: describe the characteristics of your data, for example, the means and standard deviations of all of your variables, where appropriate

Inferential statistics: indicate whether your findings are statistically significant in the sense that they are unlikely to be due to chance. The correlation coefficient and t-test are examples of the sorts of inferential statistics that beginning researchers use.
