Wrist MMT Flashcards
Muscles involved in wrist flexion
flexor carpi Ulnaris, flexor carpi radialis
flexor Carpi radialis OII
Origin: medial epicondyle of the humerus
insertion: base of 2nd metacarpaI
innervation: median nerve
isolate flexor carpi radialis in wrist flexion
Wrist in radial deviation, flex wrist up towards ceiling leading with the thumb
isolate flexor Carpi Ulnaris during wrist flexion
wrist in ulnar deviation, flex wrist up towards ceiling leading with pinky
Compensation for wrist flexion
flexing fingers allows FDP and FDS Substitute
Muscles involved in wrist extension
extensor carpi radialis longus, extensor carpi radialis brevis, extensor carpi ulnaris
extensor carpi radialis brevis OII
Origin: lateral epicondyle of humerus
insertion dorsal aspect of base of 3rd metacarpal
innervation: radial nerve
isolate ECRB & ECRL during wrist extension
patient brings wrist up toward ceiling leading with their thumb, resistance applied downward into neutral
isolate ECU during wrist extension
patient brings wrist up towards ceiling, leading with pinky, resistance applied downward into neutral
compensation of wrist extension
extending fingers allows finger extensors to assist movement
