World Wide Operations Flashcards
What are Class I Operations?
Ops on any segment which is entirely within usable range (service volume) of VOR, VOR/DME, NDB facilities. e.g. South America
Note: Nav segments with a “MEA gap” are also considered Class I
What are Class II Operations?
Ops conducted on any segment that takes place outside the usable range of VOR, VOR/DME, or NDB facilities.
What are the 2 types of Class II Operations?
- ) On-Airways - entirely on published routes or tracks.
2. ) Off-Airways - entirely or partially off published routes, or on variable tracks (e.g. NAT)
Extended over-water operations are defined as flights further than ____ nm from the nearest shoreline.
50 nm
Which aircraft model in the 7ER category does not have an RNP alerting function?
767-300ER
When might Strategic Lateral Offset Procedures (SLOP) be utilized?
For collision avoidance, wake turbulence avoidance, and non-normal events such as a vertical deviation.
Does SLOP require an ATC clearance? How is it coordinated?
No, SLOP does not require an ATC clearance, but crews should coordinate any offset with the preceding aircraft on 123.45.
Where can you locate information pertaining to special airport qualifications?
Airport directory section of the Airway Manual.
ETOPS flights are flights where segments of the route are more than ____ minutes from an adequate airport in still air with one engine out. (2 engine airplane)
60 minutes.
Is there a flight deck notification/advisory if bulk fuel is approaching the freeze point?
No, it must be monitored manually.
What is the purpose of Ops Spec B044, and how does it work?
It is designed to save fuel by reducing the required reserve fuel as compared to a straight release. It is a planned redispatch flight plan broken up into two parts:
Part 1 : From the departure airport to the planned destination.
Part 2 : From the departure airport to the intermediate airport.
NAT MNPS (North Atlantic Minimum Navigation Performance Specifications) includes airspace between FL ____ and FL ____ .
FL285 and FL420

1000 feet, FL290, FL410
Any estimate found to be in error by ____ minutes or more for Oceanic Boundary crossing/entry must be passed on to ATC.
