What causes wars?
Wars are caused by social, economic and political conditions
When did Germany attack Norway?
9 April 1940. Denmark surrender and Sweden stayed neutral
What was turning point 1?
Evaluation from Dunkirk, fall of France.
Dunkirk: channel between Britain and France.

Successful evacuation of French and British trips. Made use of civilian ships and boats
Operation Dynamo was the name of the operation
What was Operation Sea Lion?
Hitlers plan to invade British.
To destroy the RAF and invade from the sea and conquer the land.
What was the Luftwaffe?
German airforce
What was Operation Barbarossa and when did it take place?
The invasion of the USSR on 22 June 1941
Which USSR cities were targeted?
Leningrad in the north
Moscow in the central
Caucasus in the south (Crimean peninsula)
What was the scorched-earth policy and how did it help Russia?
Crops were burned, factories destroyed and so on. This meant that the Germans would get very little from the areas they were moving to.
How was the weather an advantage for the Russians during operation Barbarossa?
The Russian winter is extremely cold and the Germans did not have adequate uniforms and provisions. Eg: petrol froze in petrol tanks
The USA moved from being neutral to being a non-belligerent country. What does that mean?
This means they would aid in resources and be non-violent.
Which two amendments to the Neutrality Acts did USA pass?

What happened on 7 December 1941?
Japan attacked the US fleet at Pearl harbour without warning. USA then declared war on Japan the next day and Germany and Italy declared war on USA
What was turning point three?
USA joins the army on Britain’s side. USA did not have to declare war on Germany and Italy, they did first.
