A

The Treaty of Versailles is a series of harsh terms on Germany. Germany was forced to pay $33 billion dollars and nations that they owned were given away to other countries.

What was the appeasement that started WWII?

A

In 1937 the Prime Minister of Britain (Chamberlain) felt that giving in to Hitler’s demands would prevent another war. In result, Czechoslovakia and Austria were gained in control of Germany.

What happened during Hitler’s rise to power?

A

When people were hungry, desperate, and unemployed, they turned to Hitler and extreme political parties as solutions to their problems. In 1933 Hitler became Chancellor of Germany and started building up armies and weapons. HE also began the persecution of minority groups such as the disabled, communists, and homosexuals, but particularly the Jewish people.

How did The Great Depression lead to WWII?

A

The War Guilt Clause/Treaty of Versailles caused poverty and left economic bruises throughout Germany. The Great Depression in the 1930’s worsened the economic situation in Europe and Hitler took advantage of this and rose to power by promising revitalization for all of Europe.
