Doughboys were American Soldiers when their uniforms were rained on and their uniforms turned a doughy color so that’s why they were called doughboys.

Who was Uncle Sam and what did he originate from?

A

Uncle Sam was an icon for Americans to recruit soldiers to the war pointing at you and saying we want you for the U.S army. He originated from Samuel Wilson who was a general during the 1812 war and his photo was supplied with meat ration supplies for american troops during WW1.
