What happened to Germany’s military?
Reduced to 100,000 men. German Navy reduced to 36 ships. No conscription allowed. No tanks, submarines, or aircraft to be built. All wartime weapons to be melted down.
What happened to the colonies?
Allowed to govern themselves as independent nations.
What is Rhineland?
An area that lies on the German side of the border with France.
What happened to Rhineland?
Allies took control of the area, not allowing the German military to have a presence in the area.
What is Alsace-Lorraine?
A part of France that was taken by Germany in 1817.
What happened to Alsace-Lorraine?
Returned to France.
What was Saar?
An area of Germany with great coal fields.
What happened to Saar?
Given to France for 15 years, which they needed to rebuild coal mines after the war. People of Saar were able to vote whether they wanted to be French or German.
What happened to Poland?
Became an independent nation.
What was Danzig?
A city with both German and Polish people.
What happened to Danzig?
Made a free city.
What happened to Finland, Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia?
All became independent nations.
