Emerging, localised or indigenised varieties of English, especially varieties that have developed in territories influenced by the UK/US
Global English
An agreed understanding of what English should be used
International English
The concept of the English language as a global means of communication in numerous dialects and the movement towards an international standard for the language

Acrolect
Variety of language deemed most prestigious
Basilect
Variety of language deemed least prestigeous
Mesolect
Any variety of language that come within the middle of acrolect and basilect
Diaspora
the spread of a language from country to country
1st diaspora
- Includes the USA, Canada, Australia, NZ
- English is the native language in these countries
- English speakers from Britain interacted with indigenous/natives from these countries
2nd diaspora
- English spread as a means of governmental communication
- Countries in this diaspora included
