What does the workplace (HSAW) Regulations 1992 cover
Covers a wide range of basic health and safety and welfare issues and apply to most workplaces .

Requirements under HASAW act
Employers have a general duty under section 2,so far as is reasonable practicable the health safety and welfare of their employees at work
Define workplace applying to these regulations
Factories,schools ,offices , hospitals ,hotels and places of entertainment

Common parts of shared buildings, private roads and paths on industrial estates and business parks and temporary worksites (except works on construction sites)

Work as an employee or self-employed person.

Any place including an outdoor place
Define Domestic premises
Private dwelling. Do apply to hotels nursing homes and to parts of a workplace where domestic staff are employed i.e. Kitchens
Requirements of ventilation
Fresh clean air should be drawn from outside.
Uncontaminated from flues chimneys etc
Remove and dilute warm air.
Windows/openings should provide sufficient ventilation if not mechanical means

Lighting
Sufficient to enable people to work and move about safely they should not create a hazard

Seating should give adequate support for the lower back with foot rest for those who can’t touch the floor

Workplace and certain equipment ,devices should be maintained in efficient working order
