Working Signalling Equipment Flashcards
When replacing a signal to danger, what two ways could you make sure that the correct aspect is showing? TS1-4.1 (2)
If you can see the signal, look to see that the correct aspect is showing.
If you can’t see the signal, look at the repeater to show that the correct indication is showing.
When you have a semaphore distant signal, or a distant signal that does not replace to caution after the passage of a train, when must you replace the distant signal to caution? TS1-4.2 (1)
As soon as the train has passed the signal.
When you have a semaphore stop signal, or a stop signal that does not replace to danger after the passage of a train, when must you replace the stop signal to danger? TS1-4.3 (2)
As soon as the last vehicle of the train has passed the signal.
When there are facing points to the movement, replace the signal as soon as the last vehicle is beyond the points.
If a train has stopped with a portion of the train on approach to the signal and a portion of the train beyond the signal, what must you do with the signal? TS1-4.3 (1)
You must place that signal to danger.
If you have cleared a signal for a train to proceed, when can you replace a stop signal which will cause the Driver to see an irregular sequence of aspects or indications, while they’re on the move? TS1-4.4.2 (1)
In an emergency.
Unless in an emergency, if you have cleared a signal for a train to start, when can you replace it to danger again before the train starts? TS1-4.4.2 (2)
Once the Driver is aware that you are going to replace the signal.
Once you have made sure that the train does not have a Driver.
Unless in an emergency, when can you replace a signal when the train has stopped at that signal? TS1-4.4.2 (1)
Once the Driver is aware that you are going to replace the signal.
If you cannot clear a stop signal, when must you clear any associated signals for a train on the approach to the signal that you cannot clear? TS1-4.5 (2)
When the train is at a stand at each signal.
When the train is nearly at a stand at each signal.
If you are unsure about what aspect your section signal is showing, when can you clear the signal on approach to the section signal?
TS1-4.6 (1)
You must not clear the stop signal on approach to the section signal unless you have told the Driver of the circumstances.
When can you clear a calling-on signal?
TS1-4.8 (1)
You must not clear a calling-on signal until the train has stopped or nearly stopped at it.
What must you do if you cannot set the route for a diverging junction until the train is close to the diverging signal?
TS1-4.11.2 (2)
If it is safe to do so, you must set the route, taking into account the position of the train and take into account the speed of the train.
If a section signal stays locked when the (block) indicator is at line clear, how must you treat the signal?
TS1-6.2 (1)
You must treat the signal as being correctly locked at danger.
If a section signal stays locked when the (block) indicator is at line clear, how do you get the train beyond the signal?
TS1-6.2 (2)
Stop the train and instruct the Driver to pass the signal at danger.
If a section signal stays locked when the (block) indicator is at line clear, when can you try and get another line clear?
TS1-6.2 (2)
You must not try and get another line clear until the train has passed through the section and you have received and acknowledged train out of section
