Regulations 1, 2, 3 and NOI22 Flashcards
What is the principle of Absolute Block? TS3-2 (1)
The principle of the absolute block system is to prevent more than one train being in a section on the same line at the same time.
What is the definition of an Absolute Block section? TS3-1 (1)
The line between the last stop signal (section signal or IBH signal) controlled from one signal box, and the home signal controlled by the next signal box.
What is the definition of Station Limits? NOI Unit22-1.2.1 (1)
The line between the home signal and the section signal worked by the same signal box and in the same direction of travel.
What is the definition of an Intermediate Block section? TS3-1 (1)
The line between the section signal and the intermediate block home signal worked by the same signal box in the same direction of travel.
What is the definition of a clearing point? TS3-1 (1)
The point beyond the home signal up to which the line shall be clear before a signalled running movement can approach the home signal as shown in regulation 3.4.
What is the definition of a clearing point track circuit? NOI Unit22-1.4.1 (1)
The track circuit or circuits beyond the home signal that control the block indicator.
What is the definition of a home signal? TS3-1 (1)
The first stop signal controlled by a Signal Box that controls the exit from an absolute block section.
What is the definition of a section signal? TS3-1 (1)
A stop signal that controls the entrance to an absolute block section or an intermediate block section.
What is the definition of an intermediate block home signal? TS3-1 (1)
A stop signal that controls the exit from an intermediate block section, and the entrance to an absolute block section.
What two distances are associated to a clearing point, and what decides the distance? TS3-3.4.3 (2)
Semaphore distant signal: 400 metres/440 yards beyond home signal.
Colour light distant signal: 183 metres/200 yards beyond home signal.
What is the allocated distance for braking distance between the distant signal and the home signal? (1)
Suitable braking distance.
