Working at Heights Flashcards
Name the different methods of working at heights
Ladders
Aerial Appliances
Working platforms
Rope access and rope rescue
How many fall factors are there and where is anchor point for each one relative to the person working
3 Fall factors in total
0- anchor is above the person working ( so there is less of a fall)
1- anchor is in line with the chest of the person working (so there is a slight fall)
2- anchor is near feet or below the person working ( this is the highest fall a person could have before fall arrest system kicks in)
What are the 3 Fall protections systems we use describe them
Work restraint - Stops the user from falling by preventing the user from getting into a position where they can fall
Work positioning - Allows a user to work in an area with both hands free ( must include full fall arrest equipment )
Fall arrest - Stops the user after they have fallen
What is the working at height hierarchy of control measures ?
- Avoid- All personnel to avoid working at height when possible.
- Prevent - When working at height cannot be avoided safety precautions must be put in place
- Mitigate - When working at height cannot be avoided and the likelihood of a fall is high, additional safety precautions must be put into place .
