3 Types of Fire service hose
Delivery, Suction and Hose reel
What are the diameters of delivery hose
25m In length and either 45mm or 70mm in diameter
Materials and measurements of Suction hose
The hose is made up of Nylon and Plastic and comes in either 2.4m or 3m lengths. They will usually have internal diameter of 100mm or 140mm
Different types of couplings
Standard instantaneous couplings ( male + female used on delivery )
Suction hose couplings
( 100mm or 140mm diameter )
Macdonald couplings
( Used on hose reel tubing , press and twist to release )
Different types of branches
A type branch, Hand controlled branches including Akron, Diffuser, Hose reel and portable monitors
2 classes of pumps
Positive displacement
(Pumps both liquids and gasses)
Non-positive
(Pumps only liquids. Needs air removed aka priming)
2 Common pumps used within the fire service
Centrifugal pumps and peripheral pumps
