What was the combination act of 1825
Prevented workers from combining and gathering. They were only allowed to gather and talk about wages, anything else was illegal.
This stopped them from intimidating others.

- Large umbrella organisation created by Robert Owen. Bought good in bulk, and sold them in cooperative member shops. Them profit were shared to members. Half a million members joined within a week. Fell apart to due to conflicts between factory and mine workers. 6 farm labourers arrested due to making an oath to protect their income

Tolpuddle martyrs 1834
- 6 workers were sentenced to deportation under the act of unlawful oath 1825, for trying to form a union, to try and receive a pay rise.
They were deported to Australia
April - 200,000 protesters marched to parliament with a petition of 800,000 names demanding the release of the tolpuddle martyrs. - Tolpuddle martyrs pardoned

What was the match girls strike 1888
1888,women in Bryant and May factory were getting ill due to the use of white phosphorus. It caused jaws to rot, and caused deformities on their faces, most would die.
1882Money deducted from their wages to fund a statue of the PM.
Annie besant helped raise awareness and helped them strike .
1400 workers came to support.
Employers gave into the demands and gave a higher pay rise, and removed deduction and fines.

Dockers went on strike for better pay and better work conditions
They were inspired by the match girl strike
They marched through London to get support.
They marched with rotten food to show their poor conditions
They were also picketing at the London docks.
