Q

Feedback may be provided informally, at any time, or as part of a formalised process. List 3 general guidelines that should be applied if it is to be effective:

A
  • If possible, wait until feedback has been requested as it is more meaningful when asked for
  • Make feedback timely and relevant. Timing is everything when providing feedback, so try to make it as close to the event as possible
  • Describe actions or behaviours accurately, so that the individual can do something about it
  • Ensure the feedback is fair and genuine - people can detect insincerity
