A sentence in which a main clause is followed by one or more subordinate phrases and clauses
Loose Sentence
A long and frequently involved sentence in which the sense is not completed until the final word
Periodic Sentence
a sentence that cannot stand by itself
Fragment
establishes a clear, contrasting relationship between two ideas by joining them together or juxtaposing them, often in parallel structure.
Antithesis
Placing two items side by side, reinforces compare and contrast
Juxtaposition
Arranging words, clauses, or phrases in order of increasing importance, weight, or emphasis
Climax
an adjective or adjective phrase appropriately qualifying a subject (noun) by naming a key or important characteristic of the subject
Epithet
might be called “reverse parallelism,” since the second part of a grammatical construction is balanced or paralleled by the first part, only in reverse order.
