A feeling of exhilaration or elation caused by an exciting or romantic experience
There are no exact English word that can quite capture what Kilig is. It’s in the Oxford English Dictionary now anyway.

Ex.:

Halos matunaw ako sa kilig noong sinabi mong gusto mo rin ako.
I almost melted from kilig when you said that you like me too.

Kilig na kilig ako kapag nakikita kong online ka.
I feel really kilig whenever I see that you’re online.

Kinikilig pa rin ako tuwing naririnig kong tinatawag mo ang pangalan ko.
I still feel the kilig every time I hear you call my name.

Nickname

Ex.:

Ano ang palayaw mo?
What is your nickname?

Ang palayaw ko ay Toto.
My nickname is Toto.

Gusto ko rin magkaroon ng palayaw.
I want to have a nickname too.

Cultural context:
A lot of Filipinos have nicknames. You can think of it as some sort of a term of endearment. So, calling someone you know by their palayaw expresses a sense of immediate familiarity. 🙂

Daw / Raw

A

1.Add “Daw/Raw” to a sentence to convey that it is as said by another person. It is used to imply that what you’re saying is based on what someone allegedly or reportedly said.

Ex.:

  1. Malungkot ka raw?
    I heard you’re sad?
  2. Sila raw yung mga nagnakaw ng mga mangga.
    They allegedly are the ones who stole the mangoes.
  3. Sabi ni Pedro galit daw si Juan sa’yo.
    According to Pedro, Juan is angry at you.
