What are the different types of nouns?
Proper noun, common noun, concrete noun and abstract noun.
What is a concrete noun?
things which can be touched or seen as distinct objects e.g, table
What is a proper noun?
names of people, places or events, for example River Thames
What is the difference between stative verb and action verb?
stative verbs communicate a less active state e.g have, seem but action verbs communicate the action executed by the subject of the sentence e.g sing, walk .
What is the difference between animate and inanimate nouns?
Animate nouns refers to beings which are alive, such as a person, animal or other creature. Whilst, inanimate nouns refers to a thing or concept such as corn, sleep.
What is an adjective?
Provide additional descriptive information about nouns and occur immediately before a noun e.g a little hut
What is an adverb?
Provide additional information about a verb or adjective ,giving information about how, where and when an action occurs e.g please put your trunk in gently.
What is a pronoun?
used instead of nouns to avoid repetition e.g it was my mother’s idea that she wrote the script.
What is a determiner?
Gives additional information about a noun e.g some, this,
What is a preposition?
Express relationships between nouns, pronouns, noun phrases and other parts of the sentence and these relationships are often of location or time e.g behind the door, before loading the dishes.
