What is a clause?
building block for sentences helping to develop and expand the sentences as necessary.
What are subordinate clauses?
dependent upon a main clause and cannot stand alone as independent units or separate sentences.
Can you give examples of subordinating clauses?
because, when, where, unless
What is a regular sentence?
contains a main( finite verb) and usually a subject verb.
Can you provide a definition of simple sentences?
has a subject and only one verb
What is a irregular sentence?
do not follow predictable grammatical patterns and cannot be altered to show changes in time, tense or number.
What are the four ways sentences can be classified as?
statement, exclamation, question, imperative
What is the difference between coordinating conjunctions and subordinating conjunctions?
Coordinating conjunctions join two main clauses which are grammatically independent of each other but subordinating conjunctions are dependent on the main clause and do not normally stand alone.
