Q

Explain how Butler can be applied to The Sunday Cook’s article on page 18-20 of the Feb 1965 WR edition. and why it has been used this way.

A

Repetition of performance leads to the ritualisation of gender.

The mother is serving food whilst the daughter is offering to help along, similarly the father is sat waiting followed by the son sat waiting. This signifies the gender roles within society at the time and how the conglomerate is wanting to portray gender as traditional.
