Q

How is the YPJ seen as powerful in HUCK magazine? Theory?

A

Use of costume and low angles. Looking up to the subjects.
Costume is a stereotypically masculine uniform, and men are traditionally seen as powerful. They are taking on the role of power and strength by aligning themselves with the medias perception of strength. Challenging Van Zoonen’s theory of women belonging to the home and domestic.
