Q
PARA 1 - Chivalry Thesis
A
- Women are seen as caring, emotional and motherly so can’t commit crime as that would go against the stereotypical norms society has made for them.
- Women aren’t judged as harshly as men in court = less women convicted = women appear to commit less crime in statistics

Q
PARA 2 - Heideson’s view
A
- Argued control theory
- Women are controlled by men in public
- Women have less opportunities & are fearful to commit crime
- This shows in stats as less women who are part of these gender roles will represent the norm

Q
PARA 3 - Marginalisation
A
- Marginal position of women in patriarchal society = less crimes committed compared to men
- Men can commit occupational crimes because they’re not confined to a domestic role
