How do you format direct text?
Inverted commas and capital letters for all the phrase
In your intro, include..
Name, collar number, station, who you were with, why you were there, date in full, time in 24hr clock
What is ADVOKATE?
A - amount of time under observation
D - distance of how far away they were
V - visibility (lighting, weather)
O - obstructions (cars, walls, people)
K - known - are they previously known
A - any reason to remember - distinguishing features (scars, tattoos)
T - time lapse - did they leave your sight?
E - error or omissions - consider not all accounts may be accurate
OH LAW TIPS - used when writing a victim witness statement after WHAT & WHO
• Offence – witness knowledge of offence
• History – knowledge of scene, victim or suspect
• Location – Present at or knowledge of a scene
• Actions – action of person present
• Wounds – their explanation of wounds
• Times – time in their words (clarify AM/PM)
• Identification – Their knowledge of person – description - ADVOKATE
• Possessions – things used or at the scene
• Speech – what was said during the offence and reaction to it
What should be in capitals
Direct speach, names and names of places
