Section 17 of PACE
A constable may enter and search any premises for the purpose of WASPS.
* Warrant (arrest or commitment warrants)
* Arrest (for indictable or either-way offences)
* Statutory powers of arrest (legislations)
* Pursuing people unlawfully at large
* Saving life or limb
Section 18 (1) PACE
A constable may enter and search any preemies occupied or controlled by a person who is under arrest for an indictable offense - This requires inspector approval
Section 18 (5) PACE
A constable may conduct a search of the house before the offender is taken to the police station - you would inform the inspector after.
Section 19 PACE
A constable may seize items if he has reasonable grounds that it’s connected to an offence or is necessary to seize to prevent CLADD (Concealed, Lost, Altered, Damaged, Destroyed)
Section 22 PACE
Anything seized may be retained for evidence at a trial of offence, forensic examination, to find its rightful owner
Section 32 PACE
An officer may search an arrested person at any place other than a police station. A constable shall use this power to prevent DIE.
