Wireless Security Flashcards
A symmetric encryption algorithm that uses the now antiquated DES algorithm 3 times in a row to encrypt your data.
3DES
A modern block cipher that supports three key lengths of 129, 192, and 256-bit encryption. Provided long-term security against brute-force attacks.
AES - Advanced Encryption Standard
Provides the same level of security as a wired network for wireless networks
WEP - Wired Equivalent Privacy
Uses a variable-length alphanumeric pass phrase, which can range from 8 to 63 characters in length. - uses Temporary Integrity Protocol which rekeys after every 10,000 packets
WPA - WiFi Protected Access
Designed to monitor both inbound and outbound data traffic and report on any suspicious activity that could indicate an attack
IDS - Intrusion Prevention System
The capability to stop or prevent malicious attacks that it detects in real time by interacting with the firewall.
IPS - Instruction Prevention System
A device that sits between a campus network and an outside network and is configured with a set of rules that are used to prioritize data traffic for shaping the bandwidth.
