Firewalls Flashcards
A part of a computer system or network designed to block unauthorized access while permitting outward communication. Protection for one network from another.
Firewall
A limit is placed on the package that can enter the net work. Compares traffic against preestablish criteria. Explicit ports must be open to allow incoming and outgoing traffic. Looks at data headers. Layer 3 and layer 4
Packet Filtering Firewall
Every packet is analyze, categorize and a security decision made. The inbound and outbound data packets are compared to determine if a connection should be allowed. This includes tracking the source and destination, port numbers and sequence numbers, as well as the source and destination IP addresses. Layers 3.4,5
Stateful Inspection Firewall
Does not keep track of traffic flows. Need two rules one to reach destination port another to allow traffic to come back. Traffic sent outside and active session will be stateless.
Stateless Firewall
You make a request to the firewall than the firewall mix it on request on your behalf to the Internet, and then exam is the response. I gets back from our danger and send it to you if it’s safe.
Proxy server
Blocks program-level traffic. Analyzes packet content. Modern firewalls are application-aware.
