Allows a user to make changes to the system registry

Information about the system and registry settings from a point in time prior to an action taking place

File management application in Windows 7 that allows you to navigate the file system and manage the folders and sub-folders applications on storage media
Gadgets
Small applications, such as games, sticky notes, a calendar or clock that can be added to the Windows 7 or vista screen

Displays Details for all DirectX components and drivers that are installed in a computer
Event Viewer
Logs the history of events regarding applications, security, and the system
Control Panel
A centralized location for the settings of many features that control the behavior and appearance of the computer
Snap
Windows desktop feature that allows resizing a window by dragging it to one of the edges of the screen
File Explorer
File management application in Windows 8 that allows you to navigate the file system and manage the folders, subfolders, and applications on storage media
HomeGroup
Allows two or more computers running windows 7 or newer on your network to share printers, media files and document libraries
Pinned Application
An Application that is attached to the taskbar for easy access
Service
A type of application that runs in the background to achieve a specific goal, or to wait for a request
Start Screen
A customizable array of tiles found in Windows 8.x designed to access apps and other information, such as social media updates and calendar notifications
Device Manager
Displays a list of all the devices installed on the computer, allowing the user to diagnose and resolve device problems
Sidebar
A graphical pane on the Windows Vista desktop that keeps gadgets organized
Shortcut
a link to a program in a different folder or directory
Peek
Aero Peek a windows 7 feature designed to open multiple windows. This is activated by taking your cursor to the bottom right corner of the task bar and clicking. Or by hovering over a running application icon located on the taskbar.
Hibernate
When documents and applications are saved to a temporary file on the hard drive
Differential Backup
backup technique that backs up all the files and folders that have been created or modified since the last normal, or the last incremental, backup and does not mark the files as archived
Charm Bar
A universal Windows 8.x toolbar that can be accessed while working on any application
Remote Desktop
Allows technicians to view and control a computer from a remote location
Task Manager
Provides limited information on computer performance and the ability to prioritize and terminate processes
Task Scheduler
Software that monitors selected, user-defined criteria and then executes tasks when the criteria have been met
Action Center
Centralized location to view alerts that help keep Windows running smoothly (e.g. security maintenance)

Software that creates and manages a virtual machine on a host machine
