Wind, Solar and Geothermal Flashcards
1
Q
Advantages for wind power
A
- no pollution
- no fuel cost and minimal running costs
no permanent damage and can be removed if wanted
2
Q
Disadvantages for wind power
A
- very noisy
- ruins the view
- doesn’t produce as much energy as non-renewable resources
- when the wind stops it is hard to increase the energy as it depends on the wind
- takes up a lot of land
3
Q
Advantages for solar cells
A
- no pollution
- good for things that don’t require a lot of energy
- very reliable for hot sunny countries
energy is free and running costs are very low
4
Q
Disadvantages for solar cells
A
- expensive to put up
- does work as well for cooler countries
- doesn’t work as well at night
5
Q
Advantages for geothermal power
A
- not bad for the environment
- reliable
6
Q
Disadvantages for geothermal power
A
- not many suitable locations for geothermal power as it works around volcanic areas
