Wildlife telemetries Flashcards
Telometry
generally include devices that store data onboard (archival data loggers) for later downloading or transmission.
Biotelemetry
include measurements of activity that are more relevant to behaviour (e.g. chewing, audio) or measurements of environmental conditions that are relevant to organismal physiology (e.g. body temperature).
Tracking
the most basic type of telemetry that involves determining where an animal is located spatially. Using fixed receiving stations, it is possible to determine fine-scale movement and activity patterns.
Biologging
the use of miniaturized
animal-attached tags for logging and/or relaying data about
an animal’s movements, behaviour, physiology, and/or
environment’.
