Bronto war ein kleiner Dinosaurier
Bronto was a small (minor / smaller) dinosaur
Mit seinen Eltern lebte er in den großen Wäldern
With his(its) parents he(it) lived in the big forests
In der Nachbarschaft waren noch anders Dinosaurier familien zu hause
In the neighborhood dinosaurs still were in a different way families at home
Und natürlich gab es Dinosaurierkinder
And naturally there were dinosaur’s children
Bronto spielte mit Stego und Salta, mit Spino und Toro.
Bronto played with Stego and Salta, with Spino and Toro.
Er was mit allen befreundt. Mit allen, außer mit Rex
He was friendly with all. With all, except with Rex
Rex - der sich am liebsten Rex der Schreckliche nennen ließ
Rex - his won favourite name was Rex the terrible.
Rex war auch noch ein Dinosaurierkind.
Rex was also still another dinosaur child.
Aber er war viel größer und stärker als Bronto und seine Freunde.
But he(it) was much bigger and stronger than a Bronto and his(its) friends.
Und das nutzte er aus.
And he(it) used this (took advantage of).
Rex war unausstehlich
Rex was obnoxious
Auf Bronto hatte Rex es besonders abgesehen.
At Bronto Rex had particularly targeted.
Er knuffte und boxte den Kleineren, nahm ihm sein Butterbrot weg und seine Bonbons.
He poked and punched the smaller, took away his(its) bread and butter and his(its) sweets from him.
Nicht zum Aushalten, fand Bronto.
Not bearable, found Bronto
Und am schlimmsten war das unverschämte Grinsenden Rex
And worst of all was the outrageous Grinning Rex
Bronto versucht, weg aus dem Rex zu gehen
Bronto tried to walk away from the Rex.
Aber das half überhaupt nichts.
But that did not help at all
Wo immer Bronto ging, Rex war schon da
Whereever (wo(where) immer(always) together) Bronto went (got there); Rex was already there.
Rex wartete auf ihn
Rex waited for him(it)
Nacht für Nacht lag Bronto wach und grübelte
Night after night Bronto lay awake and pondered
Konnte er einen großen Bogen um Rex machen?
Could he(It) do a big curve around Rex?
Es schien hoffnungslos
It seemed hopeless
Brontos Freunde konnten das nicht mehr mit ansehen
Brontos friends could no longer watch
Du mußt dich einfach mit Rex anfreunden, sagte Toro
You must simply make friends with Rex, said Toro
Das ist leichter gesagt als getan sagte Bronto
This is easier (lighter) said than done, said Bronto
Wie soll ich mich mit jemandem anfreunden, der nur aus ist mich zu ärgern?
How should I make friends with someone who is just out to annoy me?
Du mußt ihm was Schenken (ein Schenkung); und du mußt ihm zeigen, daß du nichts aus seinen Tricks machst

Bronto überlegte; Was könnte er Rex schenken? Dann fiel ihm ein, wie verfressen Rex war. Der fraß ja sogar die Blätter von den Bäumen!
Bronto thought; What he could give Rex? Then he remembered how Rex was greedy. The devoured even the leaves of the trees!
Auf Bronto’s Butterbrot und auf Süßigkeiten was er immer besonders scharf.
At Bronto’s bread and butter and sweets which he always particularly sharp.
Ein Geschenk für Rex? Sagte Bronto schließlich.

Bronto suchte Rex und sagte freundlich

Hallo! Ist heute nicht ein schöner Tag? Aber so heiß! Möchtest du eine Eiswaffel?

Eis? Für mich? fragte er schließlich. Wie nett. Dann grinste er unverschämt..
Ice cream? For me? he finally asked. How nice. Then he grinned impudently ..
……. griff nach der Eiswaffel, drehte sie um und zerquetschte sie auf Bronto Kopf. Dann stolzierte er davon und lachte so laut, daß Bronto die Ohren weh taten
……. reached for the ice cream cone, she turned around and crushed it on Bronto head. Then he stalked away and laughed so loud that Bronto ears hurt
Am nächsten Morgen erzählte Bronto seinen Freunden, was passiert war.
The next morning Bronto told his friends what had happened.
Du nimmst das alles viel zu wichtig, sagte Salta.
You take it all much too important Salta said.
Beachte diesen Rüpel doch einfach nicht. Blieb ganz gelassen. Nimm ihn einfach nicht zur Kenntnis.

Rex einfach nicht zur Kenntnis nehmen? Das geht nicht! Ich habe doch solche Angst vor ihm. Aber versuchen kann ich es ja mal

Bronto spazierte gelassen weiter. Er ging bewußt langsam und hielt dabei die Nase hoch in der Luft

Du muß ich mich wohl selbst bedienen - sagte Rex und trat mit voller Wucht auf Bronto Schwanz

Bronto ließ vor Schreck sein Butterbrot fallen. Er weinte nicht! Aber es tat verflixt weh.
Bronto dropped his bread and butter with fright. He did not cry! But darn it hurt.
Brontos Freunde waren wütend, als sie erfuhren, was Rex sich wieder geleistet hatte
Brontos friends were furious when they learned that Rex had done again
Jetzt reicht’s - sagte Stego.
That’s it - said Stego.
Du mußt dich wehren. Zeig’s ihm. Du bist schließlich auch ein Dinosaurier. Rex hat ein großes Maul, aber das ist auch schon alles.
You have to defend yourself. Show it to him. You are finally a dinosaur. Rex has a big mouth, but that’s about it.
Du kannst ihn besiegen.
You can defeat him.
Bronto war so wütend, daß er stego recht gab.
Bronto was so furious that he(it) agreed stego.
Jawohl - sagte er. ich werd’s ihm zeigen. Und dann ist es aus mit Rex dem Schrecklichen.
Yes - he said. I’ll show him. And then it’s off with Rex the Terrible. Once and for all. Very well.
Ein für allemal. Sehr gut. sagte Stego. wir zeigen’s ihm.
Very well. Stego said. we show it to him.
Bronto Stego, Toro und Salta machten sich auf die Suche nach Rex
Bronto Stego, Toro and Salta set out on the search for Rex
Der verfressene Räuber was mal wieder am Grasfressen.
The greedy robber was once again on the grass eating.
Bronto baute sich vor ihm auf und sah ihm fest ins Gesicht
Bronto stood in front of him and looked him firmly in the face
Hör zu, du Miststück. sagte er. Mir reicht’s. Jetzt werd ich’s dir zeigen.
Listen, you Bastard. he said. Enough is enough. Now I’ll show you.
Rex warf einen kurzen Blick auf Bronto und grinste unverschämt.
Rex threw a short look at Bronto and grinned impudently.
Wie du meinst!! Wenn du kämpfen willst - bitte-schön

Der Kampf war sehr kurz. Bronto hatte nicht die geringsten Aussichten gegen seinen riesigen Widersacher.
The fight was very short. Bronto had not the slightest prospects against his huge opponent.
Entschuldige bitte.. sagte Stego hinterher. die Idee was wohl nicht gut.
Apologies .. Stego said afterwards. the idea which is probably not good.
Ich glaube, du mußt es aufgeben.

Gegen mache Widerlinge kommt man eben nicht an. Du mußt Rex leben, ob du willst oder nicht

Aber nun wollte Bronto erst recht nicht aufgeben.
But now Bronto would not give up even more.
Es muß doch ein Mittel gegen solche Kerle geben, überlegte er.

Als der Mond aufging und alle Sterne am Himmel funkelten, grübelte Bronto noch immer.
When the moon rose, and all the stars twinkling in the sky, Bronto pondering still.

As usual, he met soon to Rex
Na, hast due wieder was Leckeres für mich? brüllte Rex
Well, again you have something tasty for me? roared Rex
Er entriß Bronto das Butterbrot und verschlang es mit einem Haps.
He snatched the Bronto butter bread, and ate it with a gulp.
Bronto ging in Deckung. Und da hörte er auch schon einen fürchterlichen Schrei
Bronto took cover. And there he(it) also already heard a dreadful cry
Aaah!! schrie Rex. riß sein Maul auf, und ein gewaltiger Flammenstoß Schoß heraus.
Aaah !! cried Rex. tore his mouth open and a huge Flamestrike lap out.
Hilfe! Ich verbrenne! schrie er. Ich sterbe! Man hat mich vergiftet! Hilfe!!
Help! I’m burning! he shouted. I’m dying! It has poisoned me! Help !!
Quatsch!! sagte Bronto und lachte. Das ist bloß mein Butterbrot. Bist du so empfindlich?
Nonsense !! Bronto said and laughed. This is only my bread and butter. Are you so sensitive?
Ich esse mein Butterbrot am liebsten mit einer doppelten Portion Pfeffer und einem Haufen Zweibeln, Senf und gehackten Peperoni.
I eat my bread and butter really with a doubled portion of pepper and a heap Zweibeln, mustard and hacked chilli.
Du etwa nicht? Höchst zufrieden mit sich selbst ging Bronto nach Hause und ließ seinen stöhnenden und wimmernden Quälgeist hinter sich.
Do not you? Highly pleased with himself Bronto went home and let his moaning and whining brat behind.
Nach diesem Erlebnis war es Rex, der einen großen Bogen um Bronto machte.
After this experience it was Rex, who made a big circle around Bronto.
Die Dinosaurierkinder konnten wieder ungestört miteinander spielen, und Bronto hatte nie wieder Schwierigkeiten beim Einschlafen
The dinosaur’s children could play again undisturbed with each other, and Bronto never again had difficulties while falling asleep
Viele Jahre später fanden Wissenschaftler Rex den Schrecklichen.
Many years later, scientists found Rex the Terrible.
Er sah inzwischen ein bißchen anders aus.
He looked now a bit different.
Aber das unverschämte Grinsen hatte er immer noch ums Maul
But he had the cheeky grin still around mouth
