Convection currents
Is when gases and liquids rise and sink in a circular path
Sea breeze
When days are sunny the land heats up faster than the sea
Land breeze
When the sun sets the land cools off faster than the sea. The warm air above the sea rises Cooler air from the land moves toward the sea to replace it this causes Sea Breeze
jet streams
A band of very fast moving wind that causes different temperature
Trade winds
Winds that blow toward the equator
Prevailing winds
Winds that blow away from the equator
The Gulf Stream
An ocean current on the Atlantic Ocean that brings warm temperatures to the Atlantic coast and Europe
El Niño
Band of warm ocean temperatures that form at the Pacific Ocean and develop off the coat of South America can cause droughts and warms up climate
Coriolis effect
Because the earth rotate the wind cant go on a straight path and it causes the wind in the northern hemisphere to go right and southern hemisphere to go left
Doldrums
An area near the equator were their is very few wind
Polar easterlies
Winds that are found near the poles travel from east to west
Prevailing winds
Wind that blows away from the equator
