Characteristics of Falcon:

A

. Wide area system
- resilient routing meshed network
. Local area system
- IP voice telephony, network access point
. Interface and interoperability systems
- interface with other external systems for voice and data communications
. Security sub-systems
- a combination of high grade packet encryption within LAS and high grade link encryption over the WAS bearers
. Management sub-systems
- remote and local management of all WAS and LAS. Comms equipment

Q

Packet Switching Network

A

Network providers are able to optimise physical infrastructures built to support WAN, by creating smaller data packets which contain parts of a whole message. Each packet contains the source and destination address to facilitate data transmission.

Planning range:

A

Falcon band 1: up to 50km
Falcon band 3+: up to 50km( for links over 20km the RFU is remotes to the base of the mast)
Falcon band 4: up to 30km(possibly 45km for very low loss links or at a lower data rates)
