How is research on families different from other social science research?
A
- Families are systems of individuals
- Defining families is problematic
- People occupy different roles and statuses at the same time
- Family life takes place in private and is not easy to observe or sometimes even ask about
- Our own biases about families and what they should be impact our research and also our research participants’ responses

What are the 6 stages of social science research?
A
- Identification of an area or question of interest
- Exploration; identify what may be important to consider in the research
- Description; start thinking about differences and similarities between people who will be in the research, this will help in creating questions or identifying data that needs to be gathered
- Prediction; hypothesis
- Intervention
- Evaluation
