  2. Defining families is problematic
  3. People occupy different roles and statuses at the same time
  4. Family life takes place in private and is not easy to observe or sometimes even ask about
  5. Our own biases about families and what they should be impact our research and also our research participants’ responses

What are the 6 stages of social science research?

  1. Identification of an area or question of interest
  2. Exploration; identify what may be important to consider in the research
  3. Description; start thinking about differences and similarities between people who will be in the research, this will help in creating questions or identifying data that needs to be gathered
  4. Prediction; hypothesis
  5. Intervention
  6. Evaluation
