A
- Areas become outdated and left derelict
- Online shopping and out of town shopping centres cause decentralisation and the doughnut effect (hollowing of the centre)
- Traffic congestion
- Crime and threat after dark
- Land rent values in the centre of Bristol very high £400 per square metre which discouraged people and businesses to buy them.

Bristol, Cabot Circus. Bristol alliance spent £500 million on redevelopment of CBD. The new face of Bristol, recentralising retail in CBD complete in 2007=8.
- Offer the whole experience, more than shopping, leisure, cafe culture, 24 hour city
- Easy to access- multi storey car parking, public transport
- Different retail offer- designer brands
