many abolistionists argued the slave trade went against the religious teachings of the bible
the abolitionists argued god created man kind as brothers and sisters and that the bible tought people should love eachother with kindness and love. humans are all equal
humanitarian arguments led to mps votting in favour of abolition as the slave trade brutalised all those who took part in it
abolitionists argued the slave trade caused cruelty, suffering and thousands of deaths. the slave trade led too wars, death and destruction in aftrica which was wrong
the abolitionists had alot of public suppport wich led too many mps voting in favour of abolishion
they recieved public support by orginising a strong campaign at local and national level, turning public opinion against the trade
the new government of 1806 was very important in mps desision to vote in favour of abolishion
the newly elected prime minister along with other new mp’s had been persuaded the time was right to end the slave trade
a change in economic circumstances led too many british mps votting against the slave trade
slave labour was now considered inefficiant and it was believed workers worked harder if they where being paid proparly
many mps also voted in favour of abolition because the slave trade simply was no longer as profitable as it once had been
business men had beun moving their money and investment from the slave trade to industrys that where developing rapidly such as banking, coal minning, iron making etc
