Wholesale dealing
Sale to a person (or company) who buys for the purposes of buying again
Do pharmacies trade commercially

- must apply good distribution practise (GDP) standards
Have ‘responsible person’ named on license

Supply of small quantities of medicines to another pharmacy

Purchaser must be authorised to sell, supply or administer the goods in the course of the business

- schools can have salbutamol inhalers for emergency use

A signed order is not legally required - but good practise

Recording wholesale supply
Record must be made in prescription-only register (POR) for any supply of POM
Unless
- CD record is made
- copy of the order or invoice is retained for 2 years
- copy of the order/invoice retained for 2 years
