Q

What do lymphocytes do?

A

They detect foreign antigens and then produce proteins called antibodies which mark them out to be destroyed by other white blood cells. The antibodies produced are specific and will only target that type of antigen.

Q

What are memory cells?

A

Lymphocytes that stay in the body after original infection has been fought off. They can reproduce very fast if the same antigen enters the body a second time.
