What is Bourbon Whiskey?

A

Bourbon is an unblended American Whiskey.

    • It’s name comes from Bourbon county Kentucky.
  • -Bourbon is produced from fermented mash 51% corn.
  • Distilled at no more than 160 proof
    • Aged at least 2 years in new charred oak barrels
  • Bourbon can now be produced anywhere in US, not just Kentucky

Examples: Knob Creek,Makers Mark, Elijah Craig,

A

Whiskey is a grain spirit aged in wood barrels. Supposedly originated in Ireland.

A

– The only difference in process between Tennessee whiskey and bourbon is the charcoal mellowing process…. Filtration thru 10 feet of maple charcoal

–Made like Bourbon (aged in charred oak barrels) but made from 51% rye (not corn).
