meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs
How is “sustainability” used in the modern-day?
the term has been used lots in marketing for different products, etc. even when they aren’t 100% sustainable
- can be just jargon as opposed to a meaningful word
- should be used with care and purpose
What do some people mean when they use “sustainability” the wrong way?
- different semantics → mostly implying a lesser impact on the environment than competitors even if the item itself isn’t “sustainable” by true definition
Are fish sustainable?
no, because fish are the items being sold, however fisheries themselves could be sustainable
What does “sustainable” mean in marketing?
oftentimes, it means a product is simply better for the environment
What does “green” mean in marketing?
oftentimes, it means a products is simply better for the environment
What does “natural” mean?
oftentimes it means a lack of chemicals, but in many instances that means it isn’t safe
(ex. lack of preservatives, “natural medicine” for a serious infection, etc.)
