What is poor oxygenation? Flashcards
1
Q
A decreased oxygen level in the blood
A
Oxygenation sats can be used to assess oxygen level
-SpO2 – measure of how saturated hemoglobin are with oxygen (measured with pulse oximetry)
-95-100%
-Often see orders to “Keep O2 Sats above 92%”
2
Q
Signs/symptoms of poor oxygenation
A
Restlessness/confusion
Decreased blood pressure
Cool extremities
Pallor or cyanosis of extremities
Slow capillary refill
3
Q
Inadequate Oxygen Delivery
A
if it doesn’t meet the metabolic demands of the body=tissue ischemia and cell death
4
Q
Hypoxia
A
low oxygen in your tissues
when your blood doesn’t carry enough oxygen to the tissues to meet the body’s needs
5
Q
Ischemia
A
starving for O2
low O2 in heart tachycardia or chest pain
